Cas13a RNA-Targeting Nuclease

Length: 3700 bp(1233 aa)

PAM: H (protospacer flanking site on RNA)

Origin: Leptotrichia shahii

Characteristics

RNA-targeting CRISPR nuclease that cleaves single-stranded RNA without DNA cleavage. Collateral RNase activity after target recognition. Used for RNA knockdown, editing, and detection (SHERLOCK diagnostic). Alternative to RNAi for transcript-level regulation.
