Tetracycline-responsive element (TRE) 2nd-generation promoter
Tetracycline response element (TRE) promoter containing seven Tet operator sequences upstream of a minimal CMV promoter; active only when bound by the rtTA (Tet-On) or tTA (Tet-Off) transactivator. Core component of doxycycline-inducible expression systems.
Characteristics
Synthetic inducible; 7× tetO copies upstream of minimal CMV promoter. Activated by tTA (Tet-Off) or rtTA (Tet-On). Gossen & Bujard, 1992; some background activation without transactivator.
