Human synapsin 1 (hSyn/SYN1) promoter
Compact pan-neuronal promoter with high specificity across excitatory and inhibitory neurons in vitro and in vivo. Minimal activity in astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, and non-neural tissue. Standard promoter for AAV-mediated neuronal transgene expression in rodent and NHP brain.
Characteristics
Pan-neuronal ~470 bp promoter from human SYN1 gene. Drives robust expression in excitatory and inhibitory neurons with no glial activity. Extensively used in AAV CNS gene delivery.
Applications: Essential for CNS applications requiring neuronal specificity. Use for brain and spinal cord targeting when non-neuronal expression must be avoided.
