Human glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) promoter
Astrocyte-specific promoter derived from the glial fibrillary acidic protein gene, restricting expression to astroglial populations in the CNS. Widely used for glial targeting, though activity can increase under reactive gliosis conditions.
Characteristics
Astrocyte-specific; 2.2 kb human GFAP fragment (-2163 to +47). Drives selective expression in CNS astrocytes. Commonly used in AAV vectors for glia-targeted transgene delivery.
