CMV early enhancer/chicken beta-actin/SV40 intron (CBA) promoter
Strong constitutive hybrid promoter combining the CMV immediate-early enhancer with the chicken β-actin promoter and SV40 intron for broad, stable expression across most mammalian and avian cell types. Better silencing resistance than CMV alone, making it suitable for long-term in vivo applications. Forms the basis of the CAG promoter when the SV40 intron is replaced with a rabbit β-globin intron.
Characteristics
Strong ubiquitous constitutive mammalian promoter; CMV enhancer + chicken β-actin promoter + SV40 intron. Similar to CAG; widely used in AAV and lentiviral vectors for robust pan-tissue expression.
Applications
Reliable choice for long-term in vivo studies. Works well in liver, muscle, and other tissues. Larger than EFS but very consistent.
