A rabbit beta-globin polyadenylation signal directs efficient termination of transcription of polyomavirus DNA
Key findings
Demonstrated that 94-nucleotide fragment from rabbit β-globin containing all required polyadenylation elements directs >90% of polyadenylation events and achieves nearly 100% transcription termination efficiency. Showed that efficient polyadenylation signal contains both poly(A) processing elements and transcription termination signals, establishing rabbit β-globin as gold standard for efficient termination and template for synthetic polyA design.
