AAVrh.10 Serotype
Rhesus macaque-derived serotype with strong CNS tropism and lower human seroprevalence. Valuable for both CNS and systemic applications with reduced immune barriers.
Characteristics
Discovered from rhesus macaque tissue. Lower pre-existing neutralizing antibodies versus AAV2 (~20-30% seropositive). Efficient CNS transduction following direct injection or systemic delivery. Broad tissue tropism. Good safety profile. Reduced immune response versus human serotypes.
Applications: CNS gene therapy (Parkinson's, Alzheimer's disease trials). Lysosomal storage disorders affecting CNS. Mucopolysaccharidosis type IIIA. Applications in patients with pre-existing AAV immunity. Non-human primate translational studies.
