AAVrh.10 Serotype
Rhesus macaque-derived serotype with strong CNS tropism and lower human seroprevalence. Valuable for both CNS and systemic applications with reduced immune barriers.
Characteristics
Discovered from rhesus macaque tissue. Lower pre-existing neutralizing antibodies versus AAV2 (~20-30% seropositive). Efficient CNS transduction following direct injection or systemic delivery. Broad tissue tropism. Good safety profile. Reduced immune response versus human serotypes.
Applications
CNS gene therapy (Parkinson's, Alzheimer's disease trials). Lysosomal storage disorders affecting CNS. Mucopolysaccharidosis type IIIA. Applications in patients with pre-existing AAV immunity. Non-human primate translational studies.
