Selection Markers

Selection markers confer resistance to antibiotics or metabolic inhibitors, allowing enrichment of cells containing introduced DNA. Resistance genes encode enzymes that inactivate antibiotics (beta-lactamase for ampicillin) or confer tolerance through target modification.
